Every fishing Charter ends up having it’s own script at the end. My number one priority on the water, next to safety is making a memory of a lifetime for someone. Yesterday’s trip is another one for the books, but it will go down as a memory of a lifetime for everyone on the boat. Truth be told the bite sucked…. we caught fish, but nothing to write home about.
At the beginning of the trip my client stated he wanted size over quantity. God has a crazy way of answering prayers, and as a captain I was praying for a good fish. The trip wassupposede to be over, but I told my group, “let’s stay a little longer and see if we get one”. Next thing I know a Rod and reel started screaming!!! When you have a good amount of experience fishing you know when there’s a good fish on, and you know when there’s a monster fish on.
This one was just different!
Next thing you know the boat is in full chaos. I had to pull the fish as hard as I could out of the mangroves. Pumping and reeling Pumping and reeling, once I felt the fish was out just enough I handed the rod to Truman (my client), little did he know the battle had just started! Anyone that had caught one of these beast knows when you’re using light tackle like we were, everything has to be perfect; no errors or the fish of a lifetime would be gone. Truman listen to everything I said and fought that monster like a true pro. No mistakes were made, and the beast was conquered!
