Tampa Bay Nearshore Fishing Charters
The Gulf waters off the coast of Tampa Bay are home to a mix of exciting sight fishing and bottom fishing opportunities for some of the hardest-fighting and best-eating fish in the area. Every nearshore trip writes its own story. The variations in currents, tides, and seasons always keep this trip exciting—you never know what you’re going to reel up, but it’s going to be epic.
Target Species
Similar to the bay, we have an incredibly diverse nearshore fishery. Depending on the season, we’re targeting some of the most iconic species in the Gulf. Our main target species and seasons include:
Late Spring/Early Summer
We’ll have a mix of kingfish, bonita, mackerel, sometimes blackfin tuna, and depending on the water quality we may encounter a sailfish.
Late Fall/Early Winter
Big schools of 40″+ bull redfish migrate through our area.
Epic Sight Fishing
Depending on the season, we’ll be sight fishing for cobia, tripletail, or big pods of tarpon around buoys, towers, and markers.
Where We Fish
We’re heading out of the Egmont Channel, westbound of the bay, up to nine nautical miles into the Gulf. The typical run time is 30 minutes to an hour. We’re fishing a mix of public and private reefs, rockpiles, corals, and other underwater structure we’ve got pinned. Our mission is to put us in the best position to catch big fish.
Live Bait & Artificial Tactics
Most of our nearshore trips are with live bait like greenbacks, pinfish, and sometimes shrimp. We’re mainly freelining these baits.
Don’t get it twisted, if you’re not a live bait fisherman, we always have artificials ready to go—especially if we’re sight fishing.
If you’re a fly angler and want to bring a fly rod, you’re welcome to bring it but you’re responsible for your own fly tackle and rigging.
What's Included
It’s our goal to exceed your expectations. From the time you first contact us til the time we bid farewell, we’ve got everything taken care of. The boat is clean, the rods are rigged, and we’re ready to rip! The cooler is loaded with ice. Capt. Chris will be in touch with you leading up to the trip to dial in all of your details and create the perfect game plan.
During our trip, do not be afraid to get the captain’s attention. We’re here to help and want you to be fishing hard. If you don’t have a bait, let Capt. Chris know. Chances are he’s already in the livewell grabbing one and getting it rigged already. No hesitation. We want this to be an exciting and engaging experience the entire time we’re out.
What To Bring
Bring your water, beverages of choice, lunches, and any snacks you may need to keep you energized for the fishing. Come prepared for the weather with comfortable clothing and footwear. Capt. Chris will be in touch to go over the weather, water, and fishing conditions to ensure you’re fully prepared.
